Alongside TAKEO MIHONCHO Ginza on the 7th floor of Ginza Itoya is

an event space for exhibitions about paper.

Event space “Handmade Paper: Make Your Own Paper"

Have you ever touched handmade paper?
Paper made by hand has a texture and warmth that brings out the characteristics of the original material.

You can make paper yourself by hand with some basic tools and supplies,
including material such as paper mulberry (kozo).
Create your own original paper that is the only one of its kind
in the world simply by incorporating things into the paper as you make it.
For example, you could add scraps of colored paper cut in the shape of your choice,
or pieces of familiar objects, like petals from a favorite flower.

This exhibit explains the basics of making paper.
Paper-making kits are also on sale, for an easy start to enjoying the experience of making your own paper.
