  • Feature in August 2023 issue of "BRAIN"

Brain is a specialist magazine for creatives published by Sendenkaigi.
Its occasional "Book Jacket: Senses" feature is made possible through
collaborations with creators using fine paper.
Each issue of the magazine that features this popular project includes
a book jacket/cover made with a different type of fine paper.

Shun Ishizuka appears in the August 2023 edition.
The paper she uses is FAVINI TOKYO.

FAVINI TOKYO is a fine paper that is planned, and manufactured in Japan,
by an Italian paper manufacturer, with the contemporary nature of Japanese cities
seen from an Italian perspective as its theme.

Inspired by the history of Japan’s urban development,
the book jacket represents the red rust that appears as a result of the corrosion of metal,
one of the industrial materials of modern architecture, as it degrades over time.
I used a double bump of white ink with the gradation and produced the impression
of flaking paint with multiple layers of spot colors blue and yellow. I attempted to achieve
a more realistic texture by using debossing for the letters and lines resembling graffiti
on a wall and silver foil resembling iron powder.
