  • Feature in February 2016 issue of "BRAIN"

"Book Jacket: Senses" is a bi-monthly series made possible
through collaborations with creators using fine paper.
Each issue in this popular project includes a book jacket/cover
made with a different type of fine paper.

Akiko Okubo (Design Section, Bungeishunju Ltd.) has been chosen for the February 2016 issue.
The paper used is BIOTOPE GA-FS, which has the sturdy texture and strength of kraft paper.
Forest green and navy blue were the colors selected from the line-up of 18 colors,
which primarily feature rich, deep colors.

The title of the work is "H" because the illustration that stands out in gold foil represents a ladder and bookcase,
both of which start with "H" in Japanese ("hashigo" and "hondana").
It is designed so that when the book has been read and closed,
the reader can see a book sitting on the bookcase on the back cover.
It also has the secondary meaning of climbing the bookcase 'within you' in the course of your reading.
In addition to the texture and feel of BIOTOPE GA-FS, which has the feel of simple strength,
the design stands out even more thanks to the printing, embossing, and foil stamping.
