Papermaking techniques have been passed down through the generations since ancient times. Focusing on TAKEO’s machine-made washi paper, this show presents the charm and allure of modern-day washi paper, which takes its inspiration from the handmade washi techniques passed down by papermakers throughout Japan.


 

Exhibition details:  Special screening of “Birthplace of Paper” series:
  “Fukui Prefecture: Echizen Washi Village,” “Ichibei Iwano IX and Water,” and 
  “Goddess of Paper: Okamoto-Otaki Shrine”
   
  Japanese Handmade Papers (A Publication Commemorating the 70th Anniversary
  of the Foundation of TAKEO Co., Ltd.)
   
  Presentation of TAKEO’s machine-made washi paper
  Over 80 types, including the TEMARI, ultra-lightweight TAMASHIKI, ZEO MIRAI
  and YAWARAGAMI series.

  The “Washi Landscape” exhibition is being held in conjunction with
 TOBICHI’s “Kanda Kawaii Washi Festival,” an event celebrating
the publication of the special feature
“Rediscovering the joy of washi paper” in "Design no Hikidashi 43."
The exhibition of the actual washi items shown in "Design no Hikidashi 43,"
the sale of washi accessories, and other events are planned at TOBICHI.
