  • Feature in April 2023 issue of "BRAIN"

Brain is a specialist magazine for creatives published by Sendenkaigi.
Its occasional "Book Jacket: Senses" feature is made possible through
collaborations with creators using fine paper.
Each issue of the magazine that features this popular project includes
a book jacket/cover made with a different type of fine paper.

Serina Shiota appears in the April 2023 edition.
The paper she uses is Rems STANDARD-FS.

The title of the work is “REVERSAL,” referring its reversed images.

To express this fine paper’s use of mixed fibers including recycled rice husks,
the book jacket uses graphics representing the scrap paper that is usually left
over and thrown away after patterns are cut out. Silhouettes give the impression of
shapes from nature like birds, flowers, and leaves having been cut out with scissors.
The silhouettes are rendered in a single color, black, debossed as a haptic effect.
The title is placed so as to traverse the spine of the book diagonally,
so that it can be appreciated from different angles.
